This article outlines general troubleshooting steps you can try if you are experiencing issues with the Agents of Discovery app on your iOS device. The below troubleshooting methods include solutions for general issues that can prevent the app from working properly. Instructions in this document are based off iOS 12.
Close any apps running in the background
To ensure the Agents of Discovery app runs at peak performance, we recommend you close any other apps that are running in the background of your device. To close any apps running in the background, follow these steps:
- Open the App Switcher by double clicking the home button (iPhone 8 or older) or swiping up and right (iPhone X or newer).
- Swipe upwards to close all apps that are not actively needed.
Make sure your Agents of Discovery app is up to date
To eliminate any bugs or issues contained in older versions of the app, make sure you have the latest version of the Agents of Discovery app installed on your device. You can do this by following these steps:
- Open the App Store app.
- Select the Update tab.
- If you see an update available for the Agents of Discovery app, select "Update".
Make sure Location Services are enabled
Location Services are required when playing GPS or Mixed Missions. You can turn Location Services on by following these steps:
- Open the Settings app.
- Select the Privacy category.
- Select the Location Services category.
- Make sure the Location Services toggle is enabled at the top.
- Select the Agents of Discovery app from the list.
- Make sure "While using the app" is selected under "Allow location access".
Make sure you have an internet connection for downloading Missions
While Agents of Discovery Missions can be played completely offline, you still need internet access to download a Mission before going offline. Missions can be downloaded over a cellular data connection or via WiFi. To ensure you are connected to the internet, follow these steps:
For WiFi connections
- Open the Settings app.
- Select the WiFi category.
- Make sure you have a check mark next to your WiFi connections name.
For cellular data connections
- Open the Settings app.
- Select the Cellular category.
- Ensure the Cellular Data toggle is enabled.
Note: Cellular Data connections are purchased and provided by your carrier.
Uninstall and Reinstall the Agents of Discovery app
In some cases, issues within the app may require the Agents of Discovery app be reinstalled from the App Store. In order to uninstall and reinstall the Agents of Discovery app, follow these steps:
- Find the Agents of Discovery app icon on your device home screen.
- Touch and hold on top of the icon until it starts shaking.
- Touch the "X" icon.
- Open the App Store app.
- Select the Search tab.
- Search for "Agents of Discovery" in the search bar.
- Select the download icon.
